Institucional > Social and Environmental Accountability > Environment Policy
When environmental awareness was still merely incipient in Brazil, during the time that industrialization outranked environmental issues, RESITEC was already caring for its pine forest according to the precepts of sustainability. These are the same forests where RESITEC still today taps its main raw material: resin.
The awareness levels of its employees are today a reason for pride in the Group, very familiar with its environmental policy and firmly committed to the effective environmental management of its products, services and activities through:
- Compliance with the law: RESITEC complies with the pertinent environmental laws in effect in its Municipality, State and Country;
- Pollution prevention: RESITEC has invested in purchasing equipment and training its employees, avoiding actions that may pollute the environment;
- On-going enhancement of its processes: The quest for innovative options and greater efficiency is a Group goal;
- Minimizing the generation of solid wastes: RESITEC recycles its solid wastes and disposes of them properly;
- Rationalization of water and electricity consumption: RESITEC prunes waste in its daily routines through educational programs;
- Staff training and motivation for upgrading its environmental performance: On-going education plays a leading role at RESITEC, with high commitment levels among its own and outsourced staff through capacity-building and transparent proposals;
- Interaction with local communities, in order to ensure effective management of important environmental aspects: the history of RESITEC is entwined with close community links. Since 1994, actions have been implemented in order to avoid emissions of unpleasant gases. This partnership culminated in integrated efforts with the local government school (CIEP) and the Grande Rio University (UNIGRANRIO), resulting in educational actions that underpin the Quality of Life Project.
